A tradition.
A personal perspective.
I am Jieun Ro, a painter working in New Jersey, USA. I keep trying to see the familiar subjects of traditional minhwa — flowers, birds, everyday objects — anew, grounded in traditional colour and my own point of view.
The sense of colour and form I built while studying fashion design is still an inspiration in my work today. I make work at J’s Art Studio.
